Congratulations to the winners, Zakobi Rawls and Elijah Jones, of the volcano project in Ms. Schwartz’s Earth Science class. Students had to create models of the volcano of their choice and replicate them to look like the picture they chose. Teachers then voted on the best overall and most similar to the picture. All volcanoes were great and the students had a great time making them!

Dr. Jerry Beguelin was honored at the last regular season home Orphan game tonight. Dr. Beguelin has served the athletes of CHS since the 1980's, as team doctor. He was escorted to the floor by his daughter, Maria, and senior player Jeh'Chys. A plaque was presented to him, on behalf of CHS, by Superintendent, Chuck Lane.

Centralia FFA Member Ali Shook was recently awarded her FFA jacket through the Culver’s Blue Jacket Program. As part of the National FFA partnership, Culver’s, in combination with the Culver’s Thank You Farmers Project and the local Culver’s franchise, provides local FFA chapters with one free jacket. Ali Shook has been a dedicated member of the Centralia FFA program for three years and is very deserving of receiving her jacket for free. Thank you to Kevin DeBolt of the Mt. Vernon Culvers for nominating the Centralia FFA program. Pictured is Ali Shook and Kevin DeBolt.

Thanks for always cheering on CHS!

Good Luck, Orphans!

Thanks for all the "pep" you give the fans at the games!

CHS Life Skill Flag Raffle
Link for Silent Auction: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1TaBksSiHYAc-citPn9XC9A0fjytg_h4E6hfGlJY2ibY/edit?usp=sharing
Students in the Life Skill Intro to Industry class at CHS have completed a flag project that was started as a Veteran’s Day project. The students broke apart recycled pallets and collected all of the recyclable materials. After doing so, they cut, glued, and sanded the boards into a single, solid board. The students used a saw guide to cut grooves into the material for the stripes and the blue field before taping, priming, and painting the flag. The students drilled holes and fastened dowel rods into each corner of the flag for added support. The entire project took around four weeks to complete. The students selected a veteran’s charity to donate half of their proceeds from the project. They chose K9s for Warriors. The other half of the proceeds will provide students with a guided experience outside of school where they can put their life skills to use. Your support will provide these students with experiences they are not likely to forget. The online silent auction will end on President’s Day (February 20, 2023)

The Orphan freshman basketball team will be taking on Mt. Vernon at 10:00 AM and Carbondale at 11:30 AM. The tournament will be held in Mt. Vernon.
