Centralia High School will honor legendary wrestling coach Dick Carpenter with a mat dedication ceremony on Saturday, November 29, 2025. Carpenter, a 1954 graduate of Centralia Township High School, built one of the most respected wrestling programs in the region during his 43-year coaching career, amassing over 450 career victories and leaving a lasting impact on generations of student-athletes. The ceremony will take place at approximately 10:30 AM, or immediately before Centralia’s final match in the home triangular. Following the conclusion of the triangular, a reception will be held in the foyer of Trout Arena. All alumni, former wrestlers, community members, and friends of the program are invited to attend and celebrate Coach Carpenter’s legacy.

The Young Writers USA Organization sponsored a creative writing contest for high school students who created the most compelling frightful tale in a competitive 150 words or less. Top entries chosen from across the country would be published in an anthology of short stories entitled Fright Club - Nowhere is Safe. Eight CHS freshmen students have been chosen to have their writing published in this edition! Congratulations to the following newly published authors: Haylie Bowen-Holtgrefe, Jesiah Jackson, Aiden Atchison, Cayden Higgins, Elaina Carpenter, Zack Houser, Cavan Smith, and Jade Skurat.

🎃 Hallowspirit Week at CHS! 🎃
-Our CHS freshmen orientation students are leading the charge with Hallowspirit Week to boost school spirit and celebrate the season! Students are decorating their 4th-hour doors with spook-tacular, team-spirited designs that tie in the Halloween theme. 🕸️
-Prizes will be awarded to the top three 4th-hour classes with the most creative and spirited doors!
-To wrap up the week, our freshmen have teamed up with the National Honor Society seniors for a special Costume Day this Friday — helping to scare off both the competition and cancer! 👻
-NHS will collect $1 from each costume wearer to raise funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
