The
Enhancing Education Through Technology Grant
|

History
The CHS Technology Department applied for the
Enhancing Education Through Technology Grant (E2T2) in
late 2005. Approval of the federal grant, which
is administered by the State of Illinois, was received a
few months later.
Under the initial terms of the 2 year
grant, fifteen volunteer teachers were provided with
over 75 hours of professional training on how to
enhance their curriculum and presentation through the
use of technology.
The local grant was administered by
Technology Coordinator Peggy Strothman, and teacher
Mark Beckmeyer served as the Lead Teacher and
Trainer.
The teachers were each provided the
following technology tools to utilize in their
classrooms:
- 6
classroom computers for student/teacher
use
- 1 teacher
laptop
- 1
interactive white board with software
- 1 scanner
- 1 LCD
projector
- 1 digital
camera
- 1 color
laser printer
- assorted
software programs
In the second
year of the grant program 15 additional
teachers were provided with identical training
and technology tools, and members of the original team
was provided with additional over 120 hours of
training and more technology tools, including:
- additional
student computers
- video
cameras
- interactive
"clicker" systems for student
tests/feedback
- classroom
audio systems
- scientific
technology equipment
- plus
additional individualized equipment and
supplies

Grant
Success
The E2T2
grant has been received enthusiastically by both
faculty and students. Teachers have reported
that their curriculum has been greatly enhanced
through the training they received and the technology
tools available in their classrooms.
